Eligibility & age

You must be 18 years of age or older to use Carb Hack. The site involves caffeine, high-carbohydrate formulations, and other ingredients with adult-only dosing considerations. By using the site, you represent that you are at least 18 and have the legal capacity to agree to these terms.

Children under 13. Carb Hack is not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information through this site, email me at hello@carbhack.com and I will delete it.

Medical & nutritional disclaimer

Carb Hack is an educational tool. The information, formulas, and recommendations provided on this site are for general informational purposes only and are not intended as medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

The recipes and formulations generated by the builder tool are user-configured. You are solely responsible for verifying the safety and suitability of any mix you create and consume. Individual tolerance to carbohydrates, electrolytes, caffeine, and other ingredients varies widely.

Outputs are not personalized medical advice. The builder produces recommendations by applying generalized formulas to the inputs you provide. Even though outputs appear customized, they are not tailored to your physiology, medical history, current medications, or specific exercise context.

Consult a qualified healthcare professional or registered dietitian before making changes to your nutrition strategy, especially if you have any medical conditions, food allergies, or are taking medication.

Carb Hack does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of any nutritional data, calculations, or scientific references presented on this site.

FDA disclaimer. Statements on this site about caffeine, carbohydrates, electrolytes, and other ingredients have not been evaluated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Products discussed are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Allergens & cross-contamination

Bulk powders sold by ingredient suppliers may contain, or be manufactured in facilities that also process, common allergens including milk, soy, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, eggs, fish, and shellfish. Carb Hack does not test ingredients and cannot verify the allergen status of any specific product.

Read every product label and allergen statement before purchase and before consumption. If you have a known allergy or intolerance, consult the manufacturer directly and your healthcare provider before using any ingredient. If you experience symptoms of an allergic reaction — hives, swelling, difficulty breathing, or anaphylaxis — call 911 or your local emergency number immediately.

Caffeine safety warning

Caffeine is a potent stimulant. Overconsumption can cause serious adverse effects including rapid heartbeat, cardiac arrhythmia, seizures, and in extreme cases, death. The FDA recommends that healthy adults consume no more than 400mg of caffeine per day from all sources combined (coffee, tea, pre-workout supplements, and sports nutrition).

Measurement precision. Caffeine powder is active at very small quantities. A measurement error of even 1 gram can represent a medically significant overdose. If you choose to add caffeine to a formulation, you must use a precision scale accurate to at least 0.01g. Carb Hack is not responsible for dosing errors.

Incomplete mixing and batch preparation. If caffeine powder is not thoroughly and uniformly dissolved or dispersed in your mix, individual servings drawn from the same batch may contain significantly more or less caffeine than intended. This is especially dangerous when preparing larger batches, dry pre-mixes, or powdered blends where caffeine can settle, clump, or distribute unevenly. Always mix caffeine into liquid directly and stir or shake thoroughly. Do not rely on dry-blending alone to achieve uniform caffeine distribution.

Vulnerable populations. Caffeine should be avoided or limited by individuals who are pregnant, nursing, under 18, or who have heart conditions, anxiety disorders, or caffeine sensitivity. Consult a physician if you take any medication that may interact with caffeine.

Assumption of risk. Before caffeine can be added to a formulation in the builder, you must affirmatively acknowledge that you are 18 or older and have read this section. By adding caffeine, you accept full responsibility for the safe handling, accurate measurement, thorough mixing, and appropriate consumption of caffeine in your mix.

Carbohydrate & sugar intake warning

Carb Hack is designed for endurance athletes who require elevated carbohydrate intake during prolonged physical activity. The formulations produced by this tool may contain high concentrations of sugars and carbohydrates — in some cases 90g or more per hour — that are appropriate only during sustained exercise where the energy is being actively metabolized.

Not for general consumption. These formulations are not intended as everyday beverages or casual drinks. Regularly consuming high-sugar sports nutrition products may increase the risk of adverse health outcomes including obesity, type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, and dental decay.

Pre-existing conditions and glucose-modulating medications. Individuals with diabetes, pre-diabetes, insulin resistance, or other metabolic conditions — and anyone taking insulin, sulfonylureas, GLP-1 agonists, SGLT2 inhibitors, or other glucose-modulating medications — must consult a physician before using high-carbohydrate sports nutrition of any kind, including formulations created with Carb Hack. The carbohydrate loads involved may cause dangerous blood sugar swings in susceptible individuals.

Context matters. The sports science research referenced on this site studies carbohydrate intake during endurance exercise, where rapid glucose uptake by working muscles mitigates blood sugar accumulation. Those findings do not apply to sedentary or low-activity contexts. You are responsible for ensuring your carbohydrate intake is appropriate for your actual activity level and health status.

Medication & drug interactions

Ingredients commonly used in sports nutrition can interact with prescription and over-the-counter medications. The list below is illustrative, not exhaustive:

  • Caffeine can interact with stimulants, MAO inhibitors, lithium, theophylline, certain antibiotics (ciprofloxacin and other quinolones), and some psychiatric medications.
  • Sodium and electrolytes can interact with diuretics, ACE inhibitors, ARBs, lithium, and corticosteroids.
  • Carbohydrates and sugars can interact with insulin and other glucose-modulating medications.

If you take any medication, talk to your prescriber or pharmacist before using sports nutrition formulations — whether commercial or created using Carb Hack.

Adverse event reporting

For medical emergencies, call 911 or your local emergency number immediately. In the United States, Poison Control can also be reached at 1-800-222-1222.

If you experience an adverse reaction you believe is related to a formulation made using Carb Hack, after addressing the immediate medical concern please email me at hello@carbhack.com with as much detail as you are comfortable sharing. This helps me improve safety messaging and warnings on the site.

For adverse reactions to specific commercial products, also report to the product manufacturer and, in the U.S., to the FDA's MedWatch program at fda.gov/safety/medwatch.

Terms of use

By accessing and using Carb Hack, you agree to the following terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site. These terms form a binding contract between you and Rocky Mountain Logic LLC, the Colorado limited liability company that operates Carb Hack.

Use at your own risk

Carb Hack provides tools and information to help you design sports nutrition formulations. Carb Hack makes no warranties — express or implied — about the accuracy, reliability, or fitness for any particular purpose of the content or tools on this site.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • scrape, copy, or harvest data from the site through automated means;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the site;
  • use the site for any commercial purpose without prior written permission;
  • interfere with the site's operation, security, or other users' use of the site;
  • submit content that infringes intellectual property, defames any person, or violates any law.

Your content

When you save a mix or submit other content (recipe names, ingredients, quantities, comments), you grant Carb Hack a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, display, and operate the service using that content. You retain ownership of your content, and you represent that you have the right to submit it.

Third-party products and external links

Carb Hack does not manufacture, sell, or directly distribute any consumable product. When you click an affiliate link and purchase from a third-party retailer (Amazon, Nutricost, iHerb, or any other), the transaction is between you and that retailer. Warranties, returns, product safety, fitness for purpose, and liability rest with the seller and the product's manufacturer — not with Carb Hack or Rocky Mountain Logic LLC.

External links on this site are provided for convenience. I do not control and am not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party website.

Intellectual property

Site content, layout, code, copy, and original tools are owned by Rocky Mountain Logic LLC and are licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use only.

No warranties

Carb Hack and all content, tools, and recommendations are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind, express or implied — including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • Rocky Mountain Logic LLC, its members, officers, employees, agents, contractors, successors, and affiliates (together, the “Carb Hack Parties”) shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the site or any formulation, including adverse reactions.
  • If the foregoing exclusion is held unenforceable in your jurisdiction, the aggregate liability of the Carb Hack Parties for all claims arising from or related to the site will not exceed the greater of $100 USD or the total amount you have paid Carb Hack in the twelve months preceding the claim.
  • Carve-out. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, willful misconduct, personal injury caused by gross negligence or recklessness, or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded under applicable law.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Carb Hack Parties from any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) your use of the site; (b) your breach of these terms; (c) content you submit; or (d) your violation of any third party's rights.

Termination

I may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the site or any saved data at any time, with or without notice, for any reason — including violation of these terms or extended inactivity. You may stop using the site at any time and request deletion of your data per the privacy policy below.

Governing law & venue

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Subject to the arbitration agreement below, exclusive jurisdiction and venue for any non-arbitrable dispute lies in the state and federal courts located in Boulder County, Colorado, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

Binding arbitration & class-action waiver

Please read carefully — this section affects your legal rights.

Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these terms or your use of Carb Hack — except claims for injunctive relief to protect intellectual property — shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, which provide consumer-protective fee allocations. Arbitration will be conducted in Boulder County, Colorado, or by phone or video at your option for claims under $25,000. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.

Class-action waiver.You and I each agree to bring claims against the other only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, or representative action. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims.

30-day opt-out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing hello@carbhack.com within 30 days of first using the site, with the subject line “Arbitration Opt-Out” and including the email address you use on the site. Opting out does not affect any other part of these terms.

If the class-action waiver above is held unenforceable as to any claim, that claim shall be severed and proceed in court — the remaining claims will still go to arbitration. Small-claims actions in a court of competent jurisdiction are not subject to this arbitration agreement.

Severability

If any provision of these terms is held invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or — if it cannot be modified — severed, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

Entire agreement

These terms (together with the privacy policy and any other notices posted on the site) constitute the entire agreement between you and Rocky Mountain Logic LLC regarding Carb Hack and supersede any prior agreements on the same subject.

Changes to these terms

Carb Hack may update these terms from time to time. When I do, I will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For material changes — for example, changes to arbitration, liability, or data handling — I will provide at least 30 days' advance notice on the site (and by email, if you have provided an email address). Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

No professional relationship

Use of Carb Hack does not create a professional-client, medical, advisory, or fiduciary relationship of any kind.

Privacy policy

Carb Hack is operated by Rocky Mountain Logic LLC, of which I am the sole member. For purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation and similar laws, the “data controller” is Rocky Mountain Logic LLC. This privacy policy describes how I handle your information.

What I collect

Carb Hack collects the minimum data needed to provide its features:

  • Email address (optional) — only if you choose to subscribe for updates or save a mix with email. I will never sell your email or share it with third parties for their marketing.
  • Anonymous identifier— a randomly generated token stored in your browser's local storage, used to associate saved mixes with your browser session. This token cannot identify you personally.
  • Saved mix data — recipe names, ingredients, and quantities you choose to save.
  • Standard server logs — IP address, user agent, timestamps, and requested URLs, kept transiently for security and abuse-prevention purposes.

How I use your data

Your data is used exclusively to provide site functionality (saving and loading mixes), to respond to your requests, and — if you opt in — to send occasional email updates. I don't run behavioral analytics or sell data.

Legal basis for processing (EEA/UK users)

If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, I process your data on the following legal bases:

  • Consent — for marketing emails, where you have opted in.
  • Legitimate interests — to operate the save-mix feature, secure the site, and respond to your requests, where doing so does not override your rights.
  • Legal obligation — to comply with applicable laws.

Third parties who process your data

I share data only with the service providers necessary to operate the site:

  • Hosting and database. The site and its PostgreSQL database are hosted by a U.S.-based cloud platform. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
  • Affiliate networks. When you click an outbound affiliate link, the destination site (Amazon, Nutricost, or iHerb) may receive standard click and referral data through their tracking systems under their own privacy policies. I receive aggregate commission reports — not individual purchase data linked to you.
  • Email delivery. If I send email updates, they will be sent through an email service provider that processes your address only to deliver those messages.

I do not sell personal information for money, and I do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

International data transfers

Data is processed in the United States. If you access the site from outside the U.S., your data will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., which may have different data-protection laws than your country. Where required, I rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent transfer mechanisms.

Data retention

Email addresses and saved mix data are retained until you request deletion or for as long as needed to provide the service. Server logs are typically retained for no more than 90 days. Anonymous browser-token data persists until your local storage is cleared.

Your rights — all users

You may at any time:

  • request a copy of the personal data I hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate data;
  • request deletion of your data;
  • withdraw consent for marketing emails (the unsubscribe link in any email also does this);
  • in the EEA/UK, complain to a supervisory authority in your country.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@carbhack.com. I will verify the request using the email address you provided and respond promptly.

Your rights — California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to:

  • know what personal information is collected, used, or shared;
  • delete personal information held about you;
  • correct inaccurate personal information;
  • opt out of sale or sharing of personal information;
  • limit use of sensitive personal information;
  • not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

I do not sell personal information for money.I do not engage in “sale” of personal information for monetary consideration as defined under the CCPA/CPRA, and I do not collect sensitive personal information beyond the email addresses users voluntarily provide.

To exercise your rights, email hello@carbhack.com. I will verify the request using the email address you provided. You may authorize an agent to make a request on your behalf.

Your rights — Colorado residents (CPA)

Colorado residents have rights similar to California users: access, correction, deletion, opt-out of targeted advertising, opt-out of profiling for decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects, and the right to appeal. Email hello@carbhack.com to exercise these rights.

Children's privacy

Carb Hack is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through this site, email hello@carbhack.com and I will delete it.

Data breach notification

If a breach affecting your personal information occurs, I will notify you and any required regulator in accordance with applicable law — generally without undue delay and within the timeframes required by your jurisdiction (for example, within 72 hours under GDPR).

Cookies & local storage

Carb Hack uses browser local storage to persist your builder state and anonymous token. I don't use third-party tracking cookies.

Email marketing (CAN-SPAM)

If you opt in to email updates, every promotional email will include a working unsubscribe link and the postal address of Rocky Mountain Logic LLC. Unsubscribe requests are processed promptly — typically within a few days and always within the 10-day window required by U.S. law.

Affiliate disclosure

Some links on Carb Hack are affiliate links. When you buy through one, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you — that revenue is what keeps the site free.

I participate in the Amazon Associates Program, Nutricost's direct affiliate program, and iHerb's affiliate program. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Affiliate relationships do not influence my recommendations, comparisons, or formulation defaults. Product data in the comparison tool is sourced from publicly available nutrition labels and manufacturer specifications.
